Hello and welcome!
My name is Jonathan Beer, a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) here in Florida, the Sunshine State. I have ten years of Social Work experience and have been licensed (LCSW) since 2017.
I follow a Trauma-Informed Care approach, emphasizing safety, collaboration, trust, transparency, and empowerment. I strive to form an alliance with my clients, trusting that the most knowledgeable expert on matters regarding your life is you- yourself. Together, we will design a plan to work towards achieving your goals. We will re-evaluate our plan periodically to see if it still works for you and tweak it accordingly.

I enjoy working with people
I found this out while I was conducting research for my MA thesis dissertation in Gerontology, I discovered that for me, the most enjoyable part of the theses process was interviewing the participants. The research had to do with the use of technology by older adults. If interested, you can read the abstract of the resulting article here, I enjoyed talking with my interviewees, hearing their stories and what they found appealing or challenging about the use of technology.
Rather than continuing on a path towards research I decided to get a Master of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University and learn clinical skills that would allow me to work with people. I graduated with an MSW in June 2014. I have been working as a Social worker ever since, becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in January 2017.
In early 2020, I entered the inaugural class of the Doctor of Social Work program (DSW) at Barry University and graduated in August 2022. This program was focused on Trauma-Informed Care which sparked my interest, encouraging me to get trained in EMDR through an EMDRIA approved training. I am also interested in IMAGO couples therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative therapy.
